January Round-Up 2026

2 February 2026

As we look back on a busy and notable January at Phillips Law, we wanted to share a round-up of recent milestones, insights, and community moments from across the firm.

Phillips Law celebrates 40

This year marks a significant milestone for Phillips Law as we celebrate our 40th anniversary.  Since 1986, our focus has remained clear.  We provide dependable legal guidance that helps people and businesses make confident decisions.

Over four decades, we have grown alongside the Basingstoke and wider Hampshire community.  This anniversary is a moment to recognise the relationships, trust and collaboration that have shaped our journey, and to look ahead to the future with confidence.

Charity of the Year 2026: Victoria’s Promise

We are proud to announce Victoria’s Promise as our Charity of the Year for 2026.

Victoria’s Promise is a local charity providing compassionate, practical support to women living with cancer and their families.  Throughout 2026, we will be fundraising and raising awareness to help support their vital work.

Beginning the year with peace of mind

Our Wills, Trusts and Probate team started the new year by focusing on clarity and reassurance.  They have provided a legal health check highlighting the importance of reviewing Wills, putting Lasting Powers of Attorney in place, and preparing for the unexpected. You can read their insightful article here.

These simple steps can make a meaningful difference for individuals and families, helping you being the new year with clarity and peace of mind.

Rewarding success, employment seminar

At Barnsgrove, we welcomed business owners and employers to our employment seminar on employee incentivisation and evolving employment rights.

The session explored share incentive schemes, the latest developments in employment law and what businesses can expect in the years ahead.  It was designed to provide practical insight and leave attendees feeling informed rather than overwhelmed.

If you have any questions or would like to explore how we can support your business further, contact Sarah Filsell directly on 01256 854658 or email [email protected].  We would be delighted to discuss your requirements.

Phillips Law advises on Central London office lease

Our Commercial Property team, led by Consultant Clare Strachan, advised Circle on a new office lease in Covent Garden.

The transaction was completed within a tight timeframe and required careful coordination to support Circle’s operational and growth objectives.  This work reflects our focus on delivering clear, commercially grounded advice that supports momentum. Find out more here.

Brew Monday at Phillips Law

In January, we marked Brew Monday by taking time to pause and connect as a team.

With coffee, conversation, and a moment away from busy diaries, it was a simple reminder that wellbeing is about connection and checking in with one another, not dates on a calendar.

£15,056 raised for The Pink Place

We were proud to conclude our Charity of the Year partnership with The Pink Place, having raised £15,056.93 throughout 2025.

These funds will help support women affected by cancer across our local community. Thank you to everyone who donated, took part in events or supported our fundraising efforts. The impact of this partnership will continue well beyond the year.

Why clarity of objective matters

Our Family team recently shared insight on the importance of clarity of objective in financial remedy proceedings.

Having a clear focus helps reduce unnecessary conflict, control costs, and achieve outcomes that support long-term stability.  It is a reminder that effective legal advice is as much about direction and perspective as it is about process.
