We are pleased to announce that Joanna Moroney and Matt Blankley have joined our Corporate & Commercial team.
Joanna Moroney – Legal Director
Joanna brings nearly a decade of experience in corporate transactions, governance, and commercial structuring. She qualified as a solicitor in London in 2015, beginning her career at Fieldfisher LLP before working for Addleshaw Goddard LLP in Dubai, where she advised multinational corporations on cross-border deals, regulatory compliance, and corporate restructuring.
Joanna’s practice focuses on the sale and purchase of businesses (share and asset purchase agreements), drafting of shareholder agreements and articles of association, and corporate governance and structuring advice. She works with owner-managed businesses to help them navigate the challenges of transactions.
“Joining Phillips Law is an exciting next step in my legal career. I was drawn to the firm’s collaborative culture and its successful, dynamic corporate practice—particularly the opportunity to work alongside other former City lawyers, with a focus on advising owner-managed businesses. I’m looking forward to building lasting relationships with our clients and helping them navigate their business journeys with confidence and clarity.”
Matt Blankley – Corporate and Commercial Paralegal
Matt supports the team on a wide range of transactional matters, including M&A, commercial contracts, and corporate governance. Before joining Phillips Law, he worked as a Private Wealth Paralegal at a top 100 UK law firm, where he assisted high-net-worth individuals and families with estate planning, trusts, and tax matters.
Matt has passed SQE1 and is currently progressing toward qualification as a solicitor. He completed his law degree at the University of Dundee, where he served as President of the Boxing Society. Matt is committed to developing a long-term career in corporate law and has volunteered with organisations supporting mental health and social inclusion.
Both hires strengthen our corporate and commercial capabilities and support our continued growth in serving businesses across various sectors.
