Phillips Law is delighted to have advised Nordic Design House on the acquisition of their first UK showroom in Clerkenwell, London.
Nordic Design House is a renewable furniture design company initiated by Swedish company, Glimakra of Sweden and TreCe. This new acquisition is the first step in the Swedish companies’ expansion to the UK market.
Glimakra of Sweden specialises in creating noise absorbing furniture. The company uses 100% renewable energy and has recently won two HiP awards and German Design Awards which celebrate the most innovative products in the commercial design industry.
TreCe are experts in storage and recycling solutions, bringing clever recycling solutions to a wider audience. Customers can expect function-led design with sustainability at heart and a detail-driven, minimalistic approach. The company has received numerous awards this year including a German Design Award and an Archiproducts award, just to mention a few.
The Phillips team was led by partner Clare Strachan and supported by solicitor Sophie Darwish. Metric Re, represented by James Forster, acted as Nordic Design House’s agent.
Clare Strachan comments:
“It has been a pleasure to work with Nordic Design House and be part of their launch into the UK market. As with many of our corporate occupier clients in the hospitability sector, it was imperative that we completed the deal so the showroom can be open for the Christmas sales period. We are delighted we could deliver on this and enjoyed working closely with a company focusing on sustainability, given how relevant this is in the commercial property sector. We wish Nordic Design House every success with their first showroom.”
Magdalena Tym, Sales Director UK for Nordic Design House, comments:
“We are incredibly grateful for Clare and Sophie’s advice and hard work along with guidance of James at Metric Re. Phillips have been fundamental in securing our first UK showroom; they understood the key issues and provided us with valuable insight and clear explanations on every aspect of the transaction. We are very excited to bring our innovative products to the UK. We understand the importance of creating a calm and productive environment and our sound absorbing products are designed with this in mind.”
This transaction showcases Phillips’ growing strength acting for significant corporate occupiers acquiring new premises across the UK, particularly in the hospitality, industrial and office sectors. It comes hot on the heels of the commercial property team being ranked in the 2023 Legal 500 and the firm winning Professional Services Firm of the Year at the Central South Business Awards and Business of the Year at the Inspire Business Awards.
