Congratulations Sarah Filsell for an incredible fundraising effort!

30 May 2024

We are so proud of Sarah Filsell from our employment team, who took on the remarkable challenge of walking a continuous 100km from London to Brighton over the weekend. In doing so, she raised over £800 for our charity of the year, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

In Sarah’s words:

“I broke it down into sections rather than looking at the entire distance I had to walk. It was a lovely sunny day on Saturday which really helped. Night-time was particularly challenging as it was pouring with rain, and we had a treacherous muddy section to tackle. I was completely exhausted after that but refuelled at the rest stop and got going again. It was lovely when it became light again even though it was still raining. We saw some lovely countryside and spectacular views at the top of Plumpton. It was so hard at times to keep going when all you wanted to do was stop and sit down.

Colleague Oliver Jarrett-Kerr joined Sarah for part of the walk and boosted morale!

I decided to do it because my Dad did it when he was younger, and I wanted to set myself a challenge mainly to distract me from Megan going to university! I have more time on my hands now the girls are growing up and needed a challenge for me. It was the icing on the cake that I was able to raise over £800 for the H&IOWAA. Whilst I enjoyed the whole experience it was brutal!

And no, I will not be doing that again!”

A huge congratulations to Sarah for this incredible feat and for boosting our fundraising efforts.
