It is day two of Family Mediation Week with the theme of Shelter from the storm.

The week, which runs until Friday January 25, is organised by the Family Mediators Association (FMA), and is supported by Phillips Solicitors and its sister company Town Gate Mediation.

Among them is a useful article from the FMA chair Philippa Johnson.

Sally Clarke who is the FMA board secretary looks at the benefits of resolving financial matters in mediation as opposed to going through court proceedings.

There are also various videos on the Family Mediation Week website. Today there is a video by Bill Hewlett from Civilised Separations who discusses the perspective of a child when his or her parents are divorcing or separating.

Mediation is one of the most sensible and cost effective ways of resolving family problems when a couple’s relationship has broken down.  Separation and divorce usually involve a major crisis for a family and emotions may run high, especially if there are children to consider.
