MOCK FAMILY MEDIATION VIDEO
MOCK FAMILY MEDIATION VIDEO

20 January 2021

The Family Mediation Council have put together a video to give an idea of what happens in a family mediation session.

The mock family mediation video, produced for Family Mediation Week 2021, involves Elaine Richardson who is a real Family Mediation Council accredited mediator. Here you will see her mediate with Will and Sarah who have been married for 14 years and have two children, played by actors.

Please click here to watch the video.

The video gives a snapshot of the kind of issues that are discussed in mediation. It is not scripted as everything is improvised to give the meeting a realistic feel.

Prior to the session, Will and Sarah would have both attended individual assessment meetings with Elaine. This would have given Elaine the opportunity to explain all about mediation and assess whether mediation is suitable and safe for Will and Sarah.

It would also enabled Will and Sarah to make an informed decision about whether to participate in mediation. Before this session, Will and Sarah would have both signed an agreement to mediate which set out how they will work together.

This is what will happen when clients come to Haymarket Family Mediation, which is part of Phillips Solicitors. Our mediators are highly experienced, and trained in core communication and mediation skills, impasse, negotiation, and the law.
