Today is International Women’s Day, which celebrates the achievements of women across the world.
This year’s campaign theme is #PressForProgress with the day marking a call to action for accelerating gender parity. It comes at a time when there is increasing focus on equality and women’s rights in the workplace.
The World Economic Forum’s 2017 Global Gender Gap Report shows that gender parity is more than 200 years away.
While gender parity will not happen overnight, women across the world women are making positive gains, supported by a very strong and growing global movement of advocacy and activism.
At Phillips we are proud to support International Women’s Day.
Indeed we are very fortunate to have many talented and knowledgeable female members of staff working at our office in the centre of Basingstoke – 72 per cent of our workforce is female.
Three of our five directors are women – Gill Brown who heads our Employment Law team, Zoë Baxter who is head of Residential Property and Hayley Eachus whose work crosses Family Law, Landlord and Tenant law and Residential property.
Among our longest serving employees are Jakki Lonie and Alex Hooker who joined the firm in 1989, along with Joanne Hammans and Trish Coutts who joined in 1998.
Gill Brown who has been with the firm since 1994, is on hand to advise if you have any concerns about equal pay, including concerns about bonuses, commission payments, holiday and sick pay entitlements, pension terms or better shift patterns, plus maternity queries.
She can also advise employers about meeting the Gender Pay Gap Information Regulations which came into force on April 6, 2017.
Gill can be contacted on her direct line 01256 854605 or by emailing [email protected]
